Throw away your monocles! Leave the alter boys tucked in bed! Classical music does not have to be for the privileged few or reserved for Church pews. Shake the mothballs from the folds of sheet music and one finds receives a startling shock - classical music is sexy. It's passionate. It talks about pain and suffering, passion and envy, curses and evil, and all of those other volatile but interesting emotions we shove down to the depths of our souls in every day life so as to appear as regular social animals. Once the language barrier is breached, a whole new world opens up. Opera Undressed wishes to pelvic thrust this world into the faces of all willing participants (or of course, participantlesses). Initially created as a modest performance of art songs, the artist collective is growing in size and ambition. The show is beginning their winter series, showing at Fat Tuesdays in Ottawa on Novermber 27th and Le Hibou in Wakefield on December 1st at 7:30 pm. It will showcase the virtuoso skills of pianist Nick Rodgerson, soprano Noosa Al-Sarraj, and the art projections of Ariane Beauchamp. A cash bar was a priority. In preparation for the performance, Opera Undressed has put out a call for poster designs to all artists in the Ottawa area who would like to join the collective. The posters will be displayed physically and digitally as a public art display. Love, opera undressed

Carly Moran is an Ontario born artist who now resides in Revelstoke, BC. When she's not exploring the back country of the Selkirk and Monashee Mountain Ranges, she is exploring a canvas landscape. Currently enrolled in graphic design classes in Vancouver, Carly is working on several new art projects.

Thanks to everyone who came to see Opera Undressed performances on August 3rd at Le Hibou in Wakefield QC and August 5th at Tabaret Hall in Ottawa (below). The performances were a great success.
Our aim is to make classical music accessible to everyone ; it's not just about opera, it's about delicious sights and sounds.
